Hi All, weird request I know but is it possible to raise the suspension on a Ford Focus and what would the maximinum be? Where there's a will and all that but I was wondering if anyone has done it or could point me in the direction of someone who has.. Can you buy an off the shelf kit? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.. Posted this in ford earlier so apologies if you've seen it twice!!

I suspect you will run out of travel with the criveshafts/CVs and or run out of ball joint travel at full extension. They then snap.

I expect that 30-40mm is probably possible with different springs.

I hired a focus once in Iceland that rode noticeably higher than the UK version.
It was a left hooker saloon with a cheap looking dash - maybe a US derivative?

Quite a few manufacturers run higher springs for poorly surfaced countries, but as mentioned before I expect that 60-70mm would stretch the cv joints etc too much and fairly expensive fabrication would be involved.

Taller profile tyres could solve your problem. Visually at least a focus has plenty of space in the arches so a larger tyre could give you the rest of the lift. (but also raise your gearing etc.....)

find a rally specific forum. Pretty sure that the rally africa suspension setup for WRC focuses pushes the suspension right up.

And how similar do you think a WRC Focus drivetrain/suspension set up is to a run of the Focus?......Mind,i suppose it has 4 wheels...

you may be surprised about that- chap who you've met at the 7S event has 2 rally cars a focus WRC and a fiesta super 1600- parts are surprisingly interchangeable- the rear of the super1600 uses a bog standard rear suspension frame!

not saying that the focus stuff is instantly boltable, but ireckon there'll be guys running in group n or lower that start with RS focus's and use them as a base to upgrade from.

Those big magnets that they use at the scrap yard to pick cars up would show how far the suspension would travel when the focus was picked up. The best place for the aforementioned focus would then be in the crusher smile
