This may sound a but cheesy but I wanted to some view from those who have perhaps been through a view partners/wives etc.

Me and the missus had a pretty bad falling out recently over incidents that occured when we first met up (together 5 years now). A first things came out the woodwork etc but it resulted in us very nearly breaking up. A pretty hard chat and a few tears later we seem to be getting back to normal

The weird thing is that I have often thought about us breaking up and how life would be If I was single, and I am sure she has thought the same. But when it actually came very close to happening, it was scary as hell and made me realise that that is the last thing in the world I would want. She has said the same thing and I think graudally we will get over everything

being relatively young, this is my first long term relationship and I hope my last but for those that have been through the whole grieving process - how the heck did you get through it? Ive been feeling like st the lasr few days and we havent even split it!

When you find an answer to that, let me know. My life fell apart about 2 years ago and we split about 18 months ago. I still feel like st and like I am in a holding pattern frown

Time helps, as do kids, if you have them biggrin

I left my partner of 15 years, after knowing it hadn't been working for years. Yes it was scary, but I was not going to waste another day in a loveless partnership.

18 months on, I have no regrets.

Oh and booze too, yes that helps lots hehe

I split with my OH of a fair few years for 2 or 3 months, about 2 or 3 months ago.

Work suffered, in fact everything i did suffered. I was aggressive, quite horrible to be around at times and at others far too quiet.

Thing is, before the split I wondered what it would be like to be single and thought it would be good, flirted a bit, then when we split up i realised just how wrong i was and how much i loved her. Fought and fought and eventually we got back together, but it was touch and go.

Its an old cliche but its right... you dont know what youve got until its gone.

They all do that. I know there are many men reading that thinking "not my missus", but get a few down 'em on a night out with the girls, and they all end up on their knees. There are NO exceptions.

So you are staying together out of fear of being without her?

Wow, what a positive basis for a relationship.

18 year relationship (half my life)and 3 months after we called it a day and I left..

not tried the booze yet...

sad, but no regrets, when its wrong, its wrong, why would you want to spoil the rest of your life? with nothing to lose, and happiness at stake, there is only one thing to do...one day at a time...

Exactly...I am only 34 now, and am sure I will find love again

But the important thing is, I am happy now

When I split with someone in the recent past it made me realise how fragile my happiness was. I thought I was emotionally tough but I have to admit that I went to pieces for about 2-3 months after the split... But time heals and I'm over it now and know that it was the right thing to happen in the end.

Damn you Anobium Punctatum. Can't you just eat trees and that? No, your insatiable appetite for furniture and untreated structural timbers nearly claims another victim...

Glad you stopped the rot Colin. Best wishes to your OH. I realise things are still delicately poised, but what about a trip up the OX....[runs like the wind]

No, I think you missed the point. I was asking for views on how people got through break-ups, not for how I can work it out that so that I can live "happily ever after"

Exactly...It's easy to get a lay, but not easy to find love
