Night Shyamalan - The Happening

Did anyone pay to see this?

I hired it out last night - what an absolutely dreadful film. I know Shyamalan has had some corkers in the past, but this is just another realm of awful.

And Wahlberg's acting was embarassing

I actually am bucking the trend and quite liked it. Obviously very much in same vane as his other stuff, without as good a twist. But it was amusing.

I wanted to leave the theatre, but my OH insisted we stay, being that movies are so expensive and everything

I was really looking forward to it, as his other films have been half decent in my opinion... The Happening, however, was very much a "huh?" film. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Unbreakable Pretty good, I thought
Lady in the water Bit odd, and kiddyish, but it's not crap
The village I figured it out after about 30 minutes, but a decent flick
Signs Started funny, but once the aliens 'invaded' it was poretty good. The basement bits were quite creepy if I remember

The Happening was rubbish, but I quite liked The Village (the first time you see it) and Signs wasn't bad.

without exception, fast-paced, tightly plotted with razor sharp dialogue and exceptionally well cast?

The Happening is the high water mark of dreadful. Even John Leguizamo had the right idea to die pointlessly half way through.

Any film that has "Run! Run from the wind! It's coming" as dialogue is as bad as it is possible to get without ever nearing the "post ironic so bad it's good" level.

That's 91 minutes of my life I won't get back, and I begrudge it.
