Hi all. Change of job means that my weekly mileage has fallen fromm over 1000 down to about 200. Apart from all the other benefits this means I am now free to drive something a bit more, er, mental (no offence..) like the Cerbera. I just wondered if you felt this fantastic car would be up for use every day, or am I just signing up for long roadside chats with the AA? Any advice much appreciated. PS Budget would be about 12k buy and about 2k per year to run.

As long as you can garage the car when it is not being driven and you make sure it does not leak then you should be fine. By a good one from the a reputable dealer that has been prepped with a good warranty on it and you should be fine.

It has been covered before but check the following:

1. Clutch and master slave has been done in the last 10k
2. Shocks are all okay
3. Tyres are okay
4. All electrics work fine
5. Battery is top notch
6. If it is a speed six make sure it has had a recent rebuild

Fernhurst have a good one at 13k at the moment I have driven it and it will come prepped and with a 12 month warranty...

I would buy privately and buy a known car. Some of the cerb stock I have seen at a popular TVR place in Surrey/W Sussex is poorly presented.

As has been said they do need to be driven to maintain reliability.

There are some VERY cheap cars out there now.
Especially when you consider the "extras" that have been spent on them.

It would be better if you have a garage or at least a car port (I built one for mine)

Door seals will leak if you can pull them off easily, but simple silicon sealeant will cure that.
Misting can be a problem, as the windscreen vents are rather strange, but rainX cures that!
Electricals are not normal, and can cause problems, but can be repaired.
Alarms cause trouble, but mainly because they don't get used much (IMHO).

I don't enjoy driving mine in the pouring rain! (Must get new wipers)
But as with any car that has a separate chassis you don't want road salt all over it! So I avoid salty days untill we get a good downpour to wash it off.

To be honest mine has never let me down yet, but have had a couple of niggles.
2 Trips to Le Mans and back without a hiccup!

But I have spent a lot of money on it so far!
New Shocks, New Exhaust, Full 12,000 service & remap !!

Totally agree, when I first went to see my Cerb it was a bit scruffy and Simon actually apologised about the cosmetic appearance. However the day I picked it up they have even removed the seats out of the car to properly clean the whole interior and the leather was like new and they had put two new alloys on the front as they were a bit scuffed when I had not even asked them to..

I did actually say to them that first impressions do count for a lot but they can sometimes be a bit eccentric/scatty in their dealings which I actually like as it hides nothing unlike some dealers who are just a bit too smooth for my liking.. I am always more interested in mechanical soundness rather than cosmetic presentation..

I hope you did not travel all the way from Derbyshire just to look at the Cerbs?

They do say, "a Cerb a day keeps the problems away" that is quite impressive do you mind me asking whether you bought the car privately or from a dealer as it is obviously a well sorted example?

I bought to from a dealer because I wanted a warranty (which I didn't need).
