Im feeling charitable - suggestions needed

I have so much junk that I don't use maybe this Christmas I can do something with it. What im thinking is the xbox thats sitting under the stairs with bags full of games. Ok I could probably car boot it for £50 but then again I could give it away.

Thing is give it to who? Ideally you want to be able to give that to a young boy whos got fek all, whos going to have a rubbish Christmas in their council flat with their job seeking single mother but I wouldn't want her to sell it for some smack.

So any suggestions?.

Then lots of kids who really need some fun can use it, and no chance of it being sold for skag.

I tried this a while ago and was suprised at how little interest I got.
I cannot describe how many toys have accumulated in our house most of which have been used once or twice.

Have a quick google for respite care homes for children too - great places. There is one near my parents house and they do a grand job of giving the parents and kids a break.

What about a women and children's refuge? Really miserable places at the best of times.

Im struggling to find a Hospice in North Wales nevermind one of these! this better not be too difficult 1 phone call and a quick visit to drop it off and mucho happiness all round im expecting. If its not like a scene from comic relief with hundreds of kids thinking I am father Christmas come early then I won't be happy.

I've done lots of work for NCH in North Wales, where abouts are you? They are called Action for Children now i think........

Smart answer but not necessarily that helpful... we tried to give a load of games away last year (XBox, Playstation etc). A lot of places that are regulated in any way, including charity shops, can't take used electrical goods because of some electricity reg or another. We found the same when we were trying to give our old leather 3 piece suite away as well.

In the end we talked to a 'professional' (withheld to protect them!!) who put us in touch with a young bloke who was just out of prison and trying really hard to stay on the straight and narrow.

Hoppy - it's harder than you might at first think to help people out.
