Bank Accounts in Switzerland

Although many Swiss banks appear private, they are actually mainly public. The private accounts are for non nationals and non residents. As she would be living there, she may well be able to open a "normal" bank account.
UBS and Credit Suisse are the two largest banks in Switzerland, and have branches pretty much everywhere. Below these two major Swiss national banks, there are 24 Catonal Banks. Zermatt is in Valais, so the cantonal bank would be Banque Cantonale du Valais.
I think she would be best contacting the banks and discussing her requirements with them. There is a chance she would not be able to open a public account though as she does not possess a Swiss passport, so in that case to open an account it would have to be private. Some research my father did into it led us to believe that a standard Swiss account which was private would need around £100,000 to be transferred immediately to open it, most accounts require between £500,000 and £1,000,000 to open - I think at least, i cannot 100% remember so don't take that as fact.
Im no expert, but this is just my own knowledge and findings, so she would be best to contact those three banks with her requirements.

There is another type of Swiss bank i forgot about completly! Co-Operatives!
MigrosBank is an off-shoot from the Migros Supermarkets and its brands.

YOu could also use Coop Bank, Coop is like Migros but a bit of a higher version of supermarket. More like Sainsburys to Migros as ASDA. All infos on CoopBank can be found via their home page at coop.ch
