insurance is replacing them and want to match close enough what i have. Tried the Mission website but apperently my speakers never existed, well their not listed. DO NOT BUY a single speaker cone to "match" the other based on a written frequency response. My final year project at Uni (in 1995) was measuring speakers and microphones. They do not exhibit a flat response to ANY signal, so to say mumble mumble dB over X Hz -> XX KHz does not accurately describe your speaker.
And of course we're not even going to discuss the differences in sound that seemingly identical speakers that are made on different occasions have...
I remember the Mission 735s. Decent-enough sound. I think their speaker units are the same for bookshelf versions (which I had). If I'm right then one of mine was replaced by Mission after if blew outward and stuck there. That wasn't long after purchase though, and they always sounded the same BUT even they had different coloured paper on the rear side of the cone (I always like to look).
Anyway, talk to Mission. They're a decent company to deal with.

Ahh, if it's for insurance, DO NOT go by facts and figures alone.
Use what they cost originally, and then argue hard to get the modern equivilent - if you liked your old missions, then you should replace with mission, fight that battle. On paper, some god awful product could look as good / better than what you had, then really dissapoint you when you get them home!
(this was the reason for my why question, the figures mean very little in relality!)
Also, ask a couple of hifi shops what they would replace them with, and you'll get the result you're after!

Can you believe it! I just took the front off my Missions to check what the model number was, I still have the manual somewhere. As I pulled the cover, the corner caught the foam surround and now I have a hole in my woofer!!
They are 762s so no help to you...sorry.
Hopefully I can repair the surround!!!

Been looking at B&W 683's. Looked at reviews and other stuff and they are well reviewed. So shall see what happens. I know going by just the figures means very little but the info can be handy to bash the insurance company with and get them round to my way of thinking. Well thats the theory anywany.

If you want great speakers, but don't mind a slightly larger cabinet, you should check out World Designs (speakers designed by the ex. head of R & D of Mission).
The 735's are not that great anyway!!
