After selling my Tuscan in June it's now time to fill that gap. I really miss my TVR. I'm starting to look for a Sagaris and have a couple of questions.

I had the Carbon Cans on the Tuscan, what exhaust options are there for the Sag and if de-catted can you get it through an MOT without replacing the cats, pm me if you prefer.

Also if anyone is looking to sell theirs give me a shout.

I'm in Kent/S.London are there any owners willing to let me have a gander at their Sag?

Thanks in advance

Saul,

I have the CCC cans from my Tuscan on my Sag. Black cans with a black Sag, I just like the look, and it adds a few more pops and bangs. Also have a quiet set that i use for quiet track days. So your Tuscan cans should swap across no problem.

As for your second question, I would want a very big bag of money indeed to sell.

Cheers Garry.

You can have a look at mine if you want, but not selling and also please bear in mind she isnt the production model either so there are big differences between the 2.

You can put CCC's on the Sag. I did but took them off as they weren't as loud as I expected. Racing Green are letting me test some Blue Flame cans this weekend so I can let you know how I get on.

My Sag is not de-catted but I have been told it is possible to get through the MOT when it is de-catted.

Not looking to sell my Sag, sorry.

Can I ask why the Sagaris would not get through MOT without its cat's?

Its probably ignorance on my part but I assume the exhaust gasses are tested against the recorded "approved" values and a de-cat (on most car's) would result in a increase in bad gases and a fail..

However the Sagaris (and all TVR's) are unclassified (i.e. no co2 figures) do how can it be failed?

Or are they looking at something else when they fail it?

my understanding is that *any* car built after a certain age has to have a cat fitted and meet the tests for hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide as well as CO2. The levels are not set per car as such, just a pre-set amount by the MOT people who make the rules and the amounts are so low, that its not possible (today) for a car without a cat to meet the requirements of the test

so any car without a cat *should* fail, regardless, the only get out clause you have if its an old car, and never needed to have a cat from new

It is my understanding that it is a CO:CO2 Ratio that it is tested against and that depending upon the amount of CO emitted in comparison to CO2 determines a pass or fail. I think the benchmark is a ratio no worse than 0.02
Eg CO2 reading 4%, CO reading 800 ppm would equate to 800 divided by 8 x 10000 = ratio 0.02 which would be just a pass - Im sure the MOT men will be in shortly to correct me if I am wrong getmecoat

Unless its changed since I was an examiner its the level of CO and HC ppm as per limit set out by DOT. No requirement to have cats fitted but limits imposed for cars since 9/92 makes it almost impossible to comply without.
