Just doing my daily search on used car prices looking for a bargain and i was suprised by the Sytner Groups aggresive price reductions of upto £10k at a time??? - What is this doing to Independant or private used car prices or are they in trouble? They are in the process of building a new all singing & dancing million+ Porsche centre 5 minutes from me.

We are Sytner so I can explain.

Firstly the vast majority of those cars are ex-demonstrators and we can buy cars for cash at much less than they owe us so we have aligned the prices with what we can buy.

Secondly we have some cars that we have genuinely had for too long i.e. I dont mind admitting our LP640 so we have made agressive reductions again in line with what we can go out and buy to replace. The price reduction on that particular car has prompted 3 calls already so it was clearly the right this to do.

I dont think we are changing the market more getting in line with it.

So we are not in trouble although if you arent sensible as we have been you will end up that way!!

PS worth noting that we have just bought 4 more dealerships last week so we are very much in business
PPS we are definitely still on with the Porsche dealer near you!!

'Price realignment'... it is a necessary evil. As the OP states you have to price your cars at this months prices. There is no point having cars priced at market prices of 4 months ago and hoping to retail out of them - may as well shut up shop now. There are very few buyers out there and they are well informed.

A 90 day stocking policy is probably too long for todays conditions.

Another concern is that dealers are being cautious about taking in PX's that require too much prep - as a week is a long time in the motor trade currently.

The question is how deep are your dealers pockets and how long can they 'keep swallowing these pills?'

Good response, i was just genuinly suprised by the cuts, big Lamborghini fan so i tend to browse used prices and i couldnt think of an LP560 or many 2008 Gallardos spiders going for those prices Privately or Independantly.

P.S. Looking forward to new Porsche centre opening(old one was too small), all we now need is a Lamborghini dealer in the "west coast" of Scotland.smile

Behave, I didn't "dispose" of the last one until June 4th, followed by at least 6 weeks tarting about with the insurance company.

Amen brother!!!

TBH puts me off another Murci as 120 miles round trip, 100 quid in fuel and a day off work if yer door handle breaks is just redicoulous and no they have no trucks, just drivers!!

SO looking for a new brief and heart says Italian, but head and facilities locally say Porsche!!!

ste really. frown

clearly plenty of potential lambo owners just not enough service points.

Who hasn't got any trucks?

I had a raging argumnt over this with Lambo Manchester as I said, and still maintain it's ridulous they don't do collection/ delivery for cars and service at this level. It put me off buying the car.

But since Birmingham opened I have never taken any car in for a service, they collect it on a covered transporter and diliver it back.

It's now superb and back to the same level of fantastic service I used to get from Graypaul when I had a Ferari.

Not unexpected given Lamborghini Brum is part of Sytner.

Slightly off-track, Sytner has been on the accquisation path which is a welcome distraction from the doom and gloom that is reaching the motor retailing field from bottom to top - from small time indie to Bentley West County.

Good to hear Lambo Birmingham are finally getting their service sorted.....

I bought my Murci from there 2 years back and have to say found them sadly lacking in any kind of care or service you would expect:

Had car 8 weeks to sort minor problems. Whilst there I asked for a price on 4 tyres to be told £2750. I urged them to some kind of deal to make up for me having no car for July/ August 07 to be told we can do them for £2700!!... I went elsewhere and paid £996 + VAT

Then I found they had damaged the side skirt. Drove 200 miles to show them, I was told I would get a call......nothing.

Sorry BentleyLamboBrum but that was my experience. But looks like things are getting better. Fair play!

So I now go to Lambo HW. Cannot praise them enough.
