There are a whole raft of '07's available sub £65k with low mileage. Leggy ex-hire/club cars will likely be sub £50k before too long..... bargain! The values are dropping but its still a stunningly good car, and I get the impression Audi build means 6 figure mileages are emminently doable. One to watch

You can still go drifting in them with the 4wd. They do handle very well, they're quite quick and the finish inside isn't bad at all.

But it looks like a big TT and it's just not special. Why people would waste money getting one these days when for the same money you can get proper exotica I don't know. Perhaps running costs? Poor excuse. That's like when you talk to 911 owners and ask what're the best things about them and they answer 1) it's reliable and 2) quite practical. Just like a diesel Focus then....

Funny, I was looking at R8's during my usual "classifieds dream" this morning.

I'm thinking of getting another special car middle of next year.

Shortlist is......

AM V8 £50k : Good value : Looks super cool : Reasonable fun to drive.


360 Coupe, Manual with carbon seats (in black/black only!!) £40k ish Great value, great looks, pretty good fun drive. (feel a bit plonkerish in a few situations unlike the AMV8)


997 GT3 £65k Dull car really, but great drive and should hold its value best. Dealer up the road.


R8 £55k Great drive, great image, very pretty and practical, dealer walking distance,


Gallardo £65k Black on Black only! Stunning looks, great drive, great image, super cool, dealer in another country!! Very costly to run.




Can you see the dilemma!! Luckly I have 6 months to ponder it. Luckier still, its one of the best dilemmas a man can have

I'm no great fan of the 360, I'd get a 355 because I think it drives nicer (having let go of the vanity-driving thing). Or do whatever it takes to get into a 430. But I don't know a single person who would mistake a 360 for a Hyundai.

City boys with no imagination buy Turbo's & tiptronic cabs. The GT3 is one of the most enjoyable sportscars around, thats why you buy one. (Still a touch preoccupied with what people think of your car though Phil?)

The R8 is just a fantastic supercar, and it looks nothing like a TT unless you're myopic. jeez, he's still on about what people think of it????

I test drove an R8 its a very nice car well built and one of the best manual gearboxes i've ever driven. It was however boring around corners and very unexciting in a straight line unlike a Noble

Value for money amongst those cars....
360 but you have to have your wits about you, the countryside is littered with divots and furrows made by the errant 360 driver
If you can afford a 430, HIGHLY recommended brilliant drive just doesn't let you know how fast your going!(ceramic brakes are a pre-requisite)
You will lose your license in one of these.

Gallardo - well if you can get an SL and they are below 100k now then why not, fun car.

997 gt3 - the connoisseurs choice if you favour road over track. Otherwise the 6 is the smart money.
