Jag XJ

Revised lineup to include V8 XJ Super

Jaguar has announced details of a rationalised XJ line-up offering improved value for money with a host of former options now included.

The range now starts with the £44,599 XJ Executive 2.7 litre diesel, which gets satnav as standard as well as front and rear parking aids. Bi-Xenon headlamps with washers, and bright mesh grille and side vents are also part of the deal.

£50,474 is the new list price for the XJ Sovereign with the same diesel engine. The extra cash nets you 20ins ‘Takoba’ alloy wheels along with leather heated and cooled seats, a leatherette instrument panel and a rear lambswool rug set. You also get a premium DAB audio system, metallic paint, power fold mirrors and heated rear seats.

The new XJ Super V8 4.2 litre comes in at £57,760 and boasts the supercharged engine previously found in the XJR, and a more opulent interior with Rich Oak veneer as standard. All models share the same exterior styling with a recently revised front end, new side ‘power vents’, rear aero spoiler and redesigned bumper.

Very tasty, I do love these cars... even if people say they are "old man".

Just think they stand out a mile vs. all the 5/7 series floating around.

So they've cut the XJ6 from the range?

That mesh just doesn't work.

The old X308 mesh grille blended in perfectly, that one makes me wonder where the chickens are roaming free.

Chavtastic.

(Great cars though)

I love these. But dont like the revised bumper. It looks too much like an aftermarket bodykit

Jag are asking for a bail out from the goverment at the moment, even though they just been brought out??? confused.com

Dont think this will sell, the build quality on the jags lately are shockingly poor! They have no control over any of there processes and losing all the experienced staff and employee monkeys!

I really hope im wrong but everytime jag seem to show us a new concept car and we think great, looks really modern, nice interior etc but when it comes to the production carr it's nothing like the concept, they revert everything back to being an old man car.

The interior for aston martin db9 was originally designed for the Jag but they said it was too modern (They - being the senoir management)so AM had it instead! I good friend of mine was a designer for Jag and some of the stuff they wanted to produce would of changed there luck as they were some of the most beautiful interiors and design

If i was gunna get a big barge car it would be a jag every time, i just prefer the looks / sense of occasion a jag bring when compared to a 7 series or S class for example.

I thought that, whats going on? Surely its the model to have in the current climate without having to resort to the nasty black fuel.

I'll have one in black please!!! Fabulous looking car.

This cars advanced lightwieght chasis and body work means it weighs approx 300kgs less than the opposition. Clarkson got 53 mpg out of the diesel version despite his heavy foot.

"If i was gunna get a big barge"

For God's sake; please express yourself properly.

As for the gentleman refering to 'shocking quality' and 'not being in control of there (THEIR) processes'. Have you been near a current Jaguar one wonders, or in the build facility?

Go and drive one of the latest Jaguars and if you come away unimpressed, then by all means carry on talking rubbish - for that is what it will be!

I had an XJR (current shape pre stupid facelift) and it was lovely. Much much nicer than my current A8 in feelgood factor and to drive, but the boot space was smaller, there was less room inside and the quality was nowhere near.

I think they're great. So much more class than a A8/7 series in my opinion.

The revised bumper and side vents have already been on the XJ a year or so haven't they? These latest revisions are just to kit levels and model names as I understand it

I agree about the side vents but some models have them already and they don't look too bad IMHO.

Where's the XJ6 model gone? Also Jag get a lot of kudos from their "XJR" model name and I'm surprised it's been dropped for "XJ 4.2 V8 Supercharged".

Still, the new replacement model range is due reasonably soon now....

Completey agree Stuart, its just a shame that the new one coming out in 2010/11 is going to look like a beefed up XF.

Other than the company dropping engine units and what have you, I reckon this is one of the last proper Jaguars still around. Jaguar decided to replace the S-type which meant that the XF appeared on the scene and scince then the XJ has put on ladder for a replacement, there goes British elegance out of the window then.

I was looking at some renderings of what it's supposed to look like only yesterday, I just hope they're wrong, really didn't like it. I'm all for Jaguars being more modern but it looked like the illegitimate love child of an XF and a Chrysler 300c
