Another gas bill - AAArgh!

A certain "power" company, named after the country just above England - are they hughly short of cash or what?

Just got our latest bill and they have estimated our gas bill at £700!! Actual usage is £230! They now want to increase my DD to £258 and take this our 3 days before Christmas.............lovely!

Cant get through to them, high volume of calls apparantly, no wonder huh?

Any rocomendations for switching, just checked uswitch but it is adamant that my current provider is cheapest!

I think I am with the same lot, can't you submit meter readings online?

As before mentioned on other threads, never, never, never, pay utility companies by direct debit. Try and pay quarterly by cheque based on actual usage based on meter readings.

Get out of that arrangement and also shop around for another supplier as well if you can.

Drop the DD, pay as you go along and only pay what your meter says........Never accept estimated bills either up or down..asking for trouble.....

Also set your heating to go off half an hour before you normally go to bed, pointless having a warm room you have just left.......every litle helps....

Was shafted last year over this, I'm on quarterly billing now.
They were almost surprised that I didn't want to carry on with DD when they lumped me with a £330 bill!!!

They tried this with us. We just refused and they said 'ok'.

A water company tried that with us, 2 people in a bungalow, £300, needless to say i had them come round and take an acctual reading, £42.. never let them estamate your bills!
