I want to celebrate the birth of my baby boy when he arrives sometime this month. What is everyone opinion of the bubbly stuff from the list above. If I have left out any please advise.

Can't comment on DP as I've never had it, but I've yet to find anything to beat a bit of Bolli!!

Horse's water + Sodastream = Moet.

Veuve is rather nice and the Vintage is excellent.

Lois roederer Is nice.

But then I have a friend who heads a small cooperative just on the outskirts of Riems. The stuff he doesn't sell is the best!

That probably doesn't help though.

Salon, Pol Roger Winston Cuvee Churchill, Perrier Jouet Cuvee Belle Epoque, Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blanc

Some of my favourites lick

How much do you want to spend? That would be a good starting point to work from...

Krug v good, Gosset also if you can find it (oldest champagne house).

If you're just after the taste and not the badge, then the English fizzy is acknowledged to be the best in the world. Try camel valley or nyetimber - the latter consistantly beats all champagne in blind tastings and costs about the same.

What sort of Champagne do you like? I've found there is a difference, pointless you buying one that is perceived to be the best if you don't enjoy drinking it.

I liked the Veuve 1985, but probably getting past it's best now, also enjoyed some of the offerings from Ruinart.

Not a fan of Moet, in any form.

However, even though reasonably cheap, Verve Cliquot Yellow Label for me, about £25 a bottle or so as long as you dont buy it in a restaurant and a lovely taste to it.

Indeed, we were fortunate to stay in a little B & B a couple of years ago, and the guy who owned the place also worked for Ruinart, he provided as with a tasting each evening, never had any before.

Veuve Yellow Label is a very good 'quaffing champers'. Vintage is better, but pricy. I don't often go higher if I'm paying, TBH.

If you want a 'little secret', Sainsbury's Blanc de Noir <can't call it champagne> stuff is very, very good for £10. After the first glass I'd defy anyone to spot the difference.
