If they did, it probably wasn't legal - once you've got a Q plate, you're stuck with it.
The only possible way I can think of which isn't highly illegal is to rebuild the car using a different chassis, but it would need to go through SVA - and you'd probably end up with a different Q plate as you wouldn't be using new parts.
If you were using new parts, then there's little point in having the original Q car in the first place.

eg some bits form one car others from another and a bit more from somewhere else?
and ive got a q plate car my self, but i dont intend to put black plates on it as its the wrong sort of car and would look silly
