996 GT2 Prices
Discussion
When i purchased my GT2 about 2 years ago i looked at 5 or 6 GT2's which were up for sale at the time. When i looked at them i found each one had been well used and were not in great condition.
Eventually I found the one i purchased which is in perfect condition. There are now several cars for sale around 45-50k.
The real clean cars must be becoming quite rare but what is a good one worth??
I am just trying to get a feel for what mine is worth if i was to sell it. It is an GT2 Comfort, Basalt Black 02 with 23k miles it has full Porsche Service History. It is absolutly immaculate and has never been on a track.

Private sale 45k 52k
Trade offer37k 45k
Mine has double the mileage and I won't even say what the OPC offered in part ex for it.
I don't think the low mileage top condition cars can really demand a huge premium when 997TTs are 55-60k.
Edited to change prices, looking at the cars currently for sale I was a bit off the mark, my fault for talking to an OPC salesman!

Purely as a favour, seeing as you're a fellow PHer, I'll give you £5k for it. Eventually I found the one i purchased which is in perfect condition. There are now several cars for sale around 45-50k.

I have also thought about selling mine a few times, but that's just because I want a shot of every car out there I think! I have however, decided to garage it for the winter. Just using it sparingly, as the roads aren't ideal for a high-powered car at the moment.
I was also given a derisory offer by an OPC (they are attached to and part of the same group as the Ferrari garage), albeit against a Ferrari. The thing is, your car is worth exactly how much you want for it. You will always get people trying to chance their luck. If they really want the car trust me they will pay for it. Within reason obviously. The thing with this type of car is you generally want it before you go to see it (not always the case from hearing people on here) and you normally have to travel far to see them, what with the limited numbers. That to me says you, as a seller are already in a prominent position when it comes to the sale. From reading news articles and discussions on the net, second have car sales have increased dramatically. No new cars are selling but the fact that second hand cars are should lift the gloom slightly!
A GT2 is a limited edition model and the only thing harming the price is people coming on to sites like pistonheads and giving there 2pence worth when they don't really know what they are talking about. I certainly don’t, but nothing wrong with trying to put selling the car in a positive light!
It's up to us to talk up the model and get as much as we can for them. Nothing much really comes close to the wow factor this car can induce.

No, surely a car is worth what someone ELSE will pay for it. You can value it where you want, advertise it for a million if you want. Limited edition is pretty irrelevant too - the 997 GT2 is very limited edition for the UK but who cares as there are so many for sale....so the price falls off a cliff. Wish you were right on the importance of forums like PH though - that somehow it controls the market price. Think it might have slightly more to do with the huge amount of doom and gloom out there caused by the economy being total hell.

I assume the quote above about people giving their 2pence worth was aimed at my post as I'm the only one who posted a price. It's a bit far fetched to think that people speculating on here is driving the current price drops. Having said that after looking around at the prices of GT2s yesterday I revised my original guesstimate as they actually seem to be holding out quite well, they're not selling but the prices aren't dropping

I think there are a wide range of trade in prices for them at the moment. I don't really care what the prices are doing, I've decided to keep mine for as long as I can after driving a 997TT, there's nothing else I'd rather drive.

Porkie, Deltahedge, Deutscher, a resounding
Lots of people on this forum think this forum has the power to drive down prices in general.
As for the general doom and gloom, here's a taster for those interested. Yesterday I was part of an audience in which a a well respected economist had some pretty uncomfortable things to say about the next year or two. Whilst I disagree with some of his forecasts, I gently made the point that if they (economists, every political party) didn't know what would happen next year (as he specifically stated), it is unhelpful for them to create very negative forecasts that the media then whip up. Especially as some had access to data that suggested it was necessary to act in 2006!
Anyway, where he and I agree is on the impact of the automotive sector on economic performance. Add financial services and with the former now following the latter, most cars for sale will be affected, some much more than others. You only need to look at the SMMT figures to see who is suffering most now.
What the US Treasury, the Eurozone authorities and China do next, and how well it is co-ordinated, will have a bigger impact on prices than will any number of posts on PH when it comes to influencing prices of porkers.
So, let's be optimistic folks, and here's hoping for the best.

Fair enough. I was talking nonsense (do that quite a bit), but lets take it easy!!
Everything you read or hear, tells a different story as to what is going to happen or is happening. So like the last post says, lets inject a little optimsm into things. What will happen will happen!
Well said, I agree. Wasn't having a go with what I posted either Everything you read or hear, tells a different story as to what is going to happen or is happening. So like the last post says, lets inject a little optimsm into things. What will happen will happen!

Seeing as there's only about 80 cars in the UK I reckon we should all agree a bottom price that we won't go under, like a kind of GT2 owners cartel
