Chaps

I have just purchased a 1996 328i and I wondered what the thoughts were on the best fuel to feed it??

Thanks in advance - proper BMW newbie here smile

They don't have any specific requirements, so 95 will do, feel free to use optimax or v-power if you like, but don't expect it to give it any extra power.

keep an eye on the cooling system, they can leak by the black plastic thermostat housing, and the water pumps were a weak point, but cheap to replace at about 35 quid

My old E36 328 ha a serious habit so I'm afraid it was a case of whatever was cheapest.

Never did it any harm, sold on at 125k and still running beautifully.

Since I started driving to/from work, I've been sad enough to keep a log of fuel consumption. 95 or 97 makes no difference (some say you get better economy on 97+) and my 99 cab is returning 29mpg on average, and that is mostly motorway driving.

That said, the traffic is either heavy (so mpg goes down) or light (so mpg goes down wink)
