Hi again,
I was wondering if people could help me...does anyone know the car listed below:
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/793231.htm
I've been told by one person already that it is a very sorted car, after listening to people on my previous thread i've been told it is important to buy well and do my research.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
Scott

That looks so nice and I do like the bonnet vents!
Prices have dropped as youd only get a CAT-D for that price a few months back!
Have you look at Rob Ingleby and the service he offers?

the owner is well known , Apm have looked after it , it has lots of carbon, the price is keen
The negs - colour has always been a hard one to sell on, the mileage is getting towards rebuild time, is that too much carbon and the vents aren't too everyones taste.
If you are after an older, cheaper car then it must be a good one to consider.

If you like the look of it, give it a spin, and talk to Andy at APM.
The wheels, vents and carbon would make it a hard one to shift, and I think this is reflected in the price. So it is a matter of taste and whether or not you want to keep it for a long time. Just please don't add any more bling to it.

Forgive me if i'm being naive but would the engine really need a second rebuild?PS - the risk is nowhere near as great as people may lead you to believe

I know there is a risk, that's true for any car. I was under the impression that the reliability improves after a rebuild and having never owned a tvr I just wanted to see if this was true or exaggeration or if someone has just had one really bad experience with a cerbera.
Not that it's put me off
Not that it's put me off

Rebuilds on AJPs dont make them more reliable , they tended to be good from the factory generally.
I didnt know that car had had a rebuild. I can see it has had head work and new cams but didnt know it had a rebuild. Does it come with a warranty from APM then? Does it therfore have a 4.5 bottom end?

Check the chassis!!! Take not a daily driver but one only garaged and used in summer or not in the wet.Not one which is used during winter.
And those waxoil cars be carefull difficult to see what is under it. It hides the rust.
But you can always take the body off. Not too much work. And build up the whole car properly.

Thats a direct contradiction of what you said about Chassis' in your other post Fred (Time to Buy - Wintrading)- Are you real??And those waxoil cars be carefull difficult to see what is under it. It hides the rust.

You mean about taking the body off? Yes not too much work but still i do not want to go over it again. Just taking off the body is not that a big job. For spending dsome time. Depends if you want to spend lots of effort.
but somehow you are right. Taking off the body so you can fix the chassis. What you end up with is total restoration. Bit too much and too much money. But somehow you are right.
But i do not want to do it again. And have no time at the moment.
I just tried to say that if you are really a TVR lover it gives a good feeling to restore the chassis and rebuild it a bit. Second thought it took much time hahahahahaha. But no difficult to do.

And at the moment busy with puting together an other car. You must understand that some cars it is worthwhile to restore them. Some cars better to buy in good shape because the work and money you put into it will never come out.
Like no use to, let's say restore a maserati mistral which you bought for 25000 pounds or so. Because restoring such a car will cost you at least 70 000 pounds and a good one can be bought for let,s say round 60 000 pounds.
Anyway better to buy a good one i guess and chassis is first i think.
I just said that I do not want to take off the body again. I did not say it is so hard to take off the body.
haaahahahahaha
I like this forum very sharp people over here!!!!

Here's Allens site.
That car has a lot of upgrades, looks ready to go to me.
I've seen that car up close and it looks good, the carbon is top notch.
Give him a bell nice chap and at that money it's a steal, it was up for 12500.00 a while ago.

God, I much prefer those alloys to Spiders!
+1 18" spiders look so spindly and fragile to me.
But then I do have that Engineers brain!
I can't see 55k miles is anywhere new needing a rebuild??
It says Andy has done the heads, so would have thought that he will have a view on engine life.
Don't forget that >100k Cerbera that is out there!
I can't believe it's so cheap
OK the carbon fibre doesn't float my boat but it's stil got some decent upgrades for the money.
Oh and Wintrading - cost doesn't come into it if you plan on keeping the car for ever - surely.
Someone on here bought a cheap Cerbera a couple of years ago and did a full body off restoration. Yes I know he spent more than he could have bought a 'better one' for, but then he does have the knowledge he has the best car possible and doesn't have to touch it again for years.
