Hi guys , Im new to this site but hope someone may be able to shed some light on a problem I currently have . I have a transit connect 1.8 Tdci here's the problem glow plug light starts flashing and the engine cuts out , turn it off , turn the key and away she goes ? I googled it and found something which mentioned wiring fault to a fuel cut off switch ? Im thinking it may be electrical because on one occasion I backed the key off one position before the engine actually stopped and it was fine ?

Any help on this boggling frustrating quirk would be very much appreciated.

On mine (Mk3 Mondeo Duratorq) I'm told anything to do with flashing glow plugs is fuelling, likely injectors.

If you're that bothered about it, it should have stored a fault code that a dealer can read. Probably cost you about £70 for the diag though

Thanks for that, Ive had it on my nephews snapon diagnostics and its shown no codes, but last night it gave up the ghost on adark country lane 7 miles from home at midnight in the freezing bloody cold .Its being recovered back to his garage been told by an AA guy it could be the fuel solenoid which screws into the pump housing at the top? £124.48 + vat from ford , but then it could be a number of things including the pump £1400.00 +vat from Parkinsons bosch specialists who say I need to put it on their diagnostics to find the fault ...do you ever get the feeling that these diagnostics are a money making venture lol

Fords diagnostic might tell you more. Note, I'm saying the test might tell you more, rather than the technicians estimate. It's then up to you what you do about it. My local Ford dealer charge for the diag but knock that off if you then have the repair work done by them, so at least you've got a choice
