2.5 has more torque and prob. more tuning potential, but not sure if it sounds the same (a problem easily fixed with an aftermarket exhaust).

More peak power available in tuning from the 2.0 Sti (its stronger). However the 2.5 once tuned is a faster car. 2.5 for me!

I am looking at a tuned 2.0 with 350bhp, so 30bhp over the standard sti if i am correct. But if i get a 2.5 sti by prodrive i can tune it even more? What is a reasonable amount before it starts to get to finiky, 400bhp? Or are they 100% reliable no matter what they have been tuned too?

I would go over 400 on a stock 2.5. Stock 2.0's seem happy at 450bhp. However its all about the torque.

Standard STi's both in 2.0 and 2.5 put out the same bhp but the 2.5 is torquier. In PPP tune they both put out about 298-305bhp. If you have one with 350bhp it's likely to have been aftermarket tuned so it's almost 85bhp over std not 30bhp.

I've not heard of too many 2.5's on std internals being operated at much more than 370-400bhp. 2.0L engines though will i am told reliably handle 400bhp all day long and and will run at 450-500bhp, but 500bhp i think is probably the very limit before it will go bang although Vixpy knows a chap with a daily driven 2.0L running 500bhp on std internals. Go figure eek

I will be looking at a reliable 400 horses on my 2.0 sti although the tweaked one i have now is still bloody fast with 'just' 330 bhp. Strong as the day is long (so far)
