Cruises- Are they dangerous to women?

Apologies for the second cruise ship post here today :-)
I quite fancy the idea of a cruise (for reasons irrelevant to the thread) but my girlfriend is 100% convinced that she would get raped, killed or thrown overboard.
She maintains that out on the high seas, there is no rule of law and that the aforementioned things go unreported and covered up on a regular basis.
Now personally, I think she cannot possibly be right......
Please tell me I am.....

The funny thing is that she is the least paranoid person and most rational woman I know.....it's just these damned cuises that get her started!Bet she'll want to come when I say I'll go with a mate instead though!

apparently she had lost her husband that year... we were obliged to turn back and look for her but of ocurse found nothing and then continued on to Rio

(tho she egarly agreed to entering a free comp on Cunard's website for a 2 week cruise on the QM2 with accommodation in the Grand Duplex)

I thought the crew's job was to provide an 'escort service' for wealthy older women. I've never heard of serial sexual assaults and murders, or disappearances for that matter.
