Unfortunately the time has come to say bye bye to the Exige, having owned it now for just over 14 month's I have decided to go down the Porsche route, I'll still have a Lotus as I want to participate in the Trophy next year so this coupled with the fact that we need a car better suited for touring mean's an end for the Exige. Not a great time at the moment what with the market condition's and the Xmas slow down but I've already had a offer from a Porsche dealer, I'll leave it up for sale in the classifieds and see how it goes

Choosen a Porsche yet?
Nearly brought a 07 Cayman S from OPC East London. Didn't offer me quite enough money for mine thou, you never know thou Dave
I've kind of discounted a 9 11 because Mrs Boggy has also got a Car and we don't need the extra space

Hi Stuart,
Sorry to hear your beautiful Exige has got to go
Still the positive & great news is that you will still be a Lotus owner and entering the Elise Trophy. Expect to see us Essex boys supporting you next year

Just doesn't make sense to have to Elise derivatives in one household. The Porka just makes more sense for the longer journeys

See you in 6 months when you've got bored
Having had a 997S for 2 years and driven quite a few Boxsters, I would tend to agree - if the Porka is going to be a daily drive, as mine was, the extra trinkets/comfort/ease of use are very welcome. But as something just to get out at weekends, they aren't special/different/hardcore enough to want to drive just for the sake of it - IMHO.
The 911 ownership experience didn't match up to the "promise" for me, which was a little dissapointing, but that may be largely down to the £20k depreciation in 2 years that mine suffered - hell I could have bought a decent 111R for that!
However, as the OP will be racing an Elise, there is fun enough to be had there?
The beauty of the Exige for me is that I can leave it anywhere without worry and I don't tend to get as much of the "unwanted attention" from the A4/3 series brigade as I did in the 911 (one once gave me the "coffee beans" sign for overtaking him on a dual carriageway!) - strange that?
My m8 has a 997S c2 and it's a brilliant car - really impressed with it and it's got that solid built from granite feel about it - had some great fun with it on road and at North Weald - I can see why they're so popular.
I wouldn't worry about the stereotyping ... just leave them all behind in a cloud of tyre smoke and a slight drift at each corner ... it's a really good car.
Good luck

Anyway, all the Porkers are great cars. The Boxster and Cayman handle the best but could do with more power (easy, but expensive). The Boxster S engine sounds glorious. The current 911s are a bit fat but the air-cooled cars are just as rewarding in their own way as the Lotuses, and the 993 / 964 models were smaller and much better suited to hooning around, IMO...
Have you seen the state of it? I really wanted to love the Evora but having owned 4 Lotus cars I know for a fact the build quality just isn't going to be half as good as a Porsche, I don't like the roof line or the front end to be honest, I'll obviously test drive it when it's released but I see myself in a Cayman for weekend fun not an Evora.
We won't be making any decisions till the Exige is sold, we've also driven all the cars that we are thinking of buying, I will still have a Lotus as I've already said so there's no point what so ever in owning two Elise variant's.
We've also looked at a Rari 360 (Service costs to expensive) AMV8 (Service costs to expensive) I don't need another track focused car as I'm buying an Elise for LOTRDC.
