I need to take some wine to a party but it can't cost more than £15 a bottle because I am a student.

Some friends of mine are big red wine fans and they like chateaux neuf du pape. About £13 a bottle I think

chateaux neuf du pape for £13 is not what wine lovers drink, it's what people who don't know about wine pick in the supermarket as expensive and French

Its a party. It does'nt need to be top quality.

Bottle of Wolf Blass for 5.99 at the local supermarket will do. Buy two , stand in the corner and drink 'em. It will be better than the stuff other people have brought.

a nice barolo for £10 or so should do the trick.

Such a subjective question and it depends entirely personal taste....

But a personal (non-special occasion) favourite is Wolf Blass Yellow Label Cabernet Sauvignon. £7-8 a bottle.

3 bottles for £10 at Asda at the moment. The Isla Negra chilean red is perfectly acceptable for the price.

yesBloody students these days. When I were a student we stood at a bar made of cardboard boxes and drank students' choice cider at £1 a litre.

Haven't tried the Isle Negra stuff but there are some decent Lindemanns bottles in the offer. I gather the Jacob's Creek stuff isn't bad either but haven't tried it myself.

Other than those, the rest seemed to be very ordinary.

Tesco have a very nice Lalande de Pomerol for £15 a bottle, but it is often on half price at which point it is a true bargain. As others have said though, it does depend on your tastes.

Another vote for the Wolf Blass, can't go wrong with it. If you prefer smooth go for the Merlot, if you want a bit more bite, get the Cabernet Sauvignon.

Co-op Lime Valley Granache. Very smooth, infinitely quaffable and only around £5 a bottle. In fact all the wines in that range, (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, etc), are all very palatable and at that price oyu could take a selection!

I do like Chateau Neuf de Vino Collapso Paraletica, but it's vastly overrated.
