I dont think its a scam. Games companies have been doing this, so why not porno publishers?

Just last month my brother got a letter from his ISP. They had been contacted by the ESA stating that his IP address had been uploading a game. Luckily the ISP told him that it wasnt being taken any further and just advised him to delete the content, but did make clear that should the copyright holder wish to pursue legal action, that they would have to hand over his contact details.

A German company is going after people who have allegedly illegally downloaded some of their porn films on things like Limewire and that, but the letters are seemingly being sent out to random people, as OAP's and 10 year old kids have been getting them. The BBC were on about it this morning, the company says they will sue unless you give them £500 as an out of court settlement.

On the news this morning, people have been getting letters stating that they owe a Porn company £500 because they have been downloading commercial porn using filesharing clients.

Of course, all the people who have got this letter have no idea why they would have got it, just like they had no idea what that charge was on their hotel bill...

Oh it's about file shareing. The easiest way to invite a virus onto your computer. Not to mention the only reason 99% do it is to break the law and get copyright material.

Dont have the software. Then you cannot be accused of downloading and distributing the stuff. Or if you are accused they'll have a hard time proving it!
