Just had a little go of this myself and stunned at how close I managed to get.
This is a photo of my laptop screen using my EF-S 55-250mm at 250mm with a reversed (handheld) 50mm lens, focussed by moving closer and further away from the screen:

Not pin-sharp but very impressed at what I managed, will be trying some more pictures later.

Let's see your attempts at this (macro lens or improvised like me)...
(Next follows a load of brilliant macros taken by 4hero!)

Thanks

That's pretty darned close right there ^ Shooting beasties with reversed lenses is not so easy though rotate

A couple from me, mainly shot with the Canon 40D, MP-E65, and MT-24ex flash.

Not sure if you have seen this one before hehe

It's a different world down with the beasties.

Out of interest, what sort of distance was the lens from the screen, and what had you set the focus rings on the two lenses to? I can't seem to get anything through the viewfinder with a 50mm in front of a 105

ETA - Nevermind, got it smile

I really should recognise what atom it is, but I don't. Please put me out of my misery.

This is quite fun, but bloody tricky.

Take one Marvel figurine (about 3 1/2" high) :

Gaffa tape a 50mm 1.8 FD lens the wrong way around to a 105 Sigma macro

And take 200 shots to get anything vaguely in focus biggrin

Well, filename just says 'atom2' but my guess is helium. Two thingies you see. 4/2 alpha particle etc. But whatever it is, it's jolly small.

May I recommend the Californian red? drunk

Nice work guys, as promised here are a few more:
I tried the ball of a biro and I think this is a bit of ink sticking out from the ball. Quite hard to do this one because of such a shallow depth of field:

Next this is an edge of a 5 pence piece:

Last one here is a pin head:

All of these photos are straight out of the camera and uncropped. I tried some other things like my fingerprint but couldn't get all of it in focus at the same time unfortunately.
I think I need to get myself a fly and try that out, although by the time I'm ready to take the picture it'll probably be long gone!

Thanks.

Shoot through some glass then (i.e. pushing finger into glass so it goes flat) music
