Anyone got an old Amiga?

Always wanted one but never had one (had a spectrum then eventually a PC). Not employed at present so why not play with some retro gizmos! If anyone's got an Amiga (or possibly an Atari ST) that works with a bunch of disks or games which I could just fiddle with then I'd be interested to collect/buy/whatever.

Might have one gathering dust in the garage, along with a shed full of games (not literally). Not sure if it works, but might be worth a shot.

I've tried an emulator but it didn't really feel real enough for me!! Could've been playing any old web game :/

Walking through town the other day - saw a computer shop with a load of laptops, but in the corner found a Atari ST with an (optimistic?! ) "collectors item - £29" price tag written. Overpriced but why not, got it for £25 when I went back.



So here it is - info for the geeks: its a 520 ST^FM, according to wiki the F means built in floppy, M means it can output to TV, both are very handy and were deal clinchers! .
Got a bunch of games but only some work. They're boxed which also is a bonus. It all smells a bit musty. I found an old joystick from my spectrum, it must be really really old actually! Which surprisingly works for the ST. Unfortunately a serial PC mouse doesn't seem to work (actually its a ps2 microsoft mouse using bundled serial adapter).
Amazed at the sound - better than a Megadrive or similar, and odd to remember that most PCs used 'pc speaker' sound for games for those who couldn't afford sound blasters, up until the mid 90s.

The ST always won the STvAmiga battles on the sound front. A very capable sound chip.

Of course, the A500 trounced it in every other conceivable fashion

I loved my ST and defended it to the last againt the Amiga, but the sound was rubbish. Only 3 channel mono FM sound on the STFM, although the STE was better, it still could not match the Amiga. It did have MIDI though and ran at the full 8MHz !!

Get an emulator and then you can play any game ever produced.
Although, Syndicate is the only game you will ever need lol Or Octomed if you are musically inclined.
