SPOTTED: 250 GT California (or not?)
Discussion
Chaps,
I know there's a Spotted thread*, but if this is what I think it is, this is surely worth a seperate thread.
Spotted this in the miserable, cold rain in Putney tonight at around 19.30...

I'm not usually one for taking snaps, but if it is what I think it is, it was worth looking like a tool for. I believe the reg was AOD746A which shows as a Ferrari on HPI. It was LHD too.
Anyone know if its the real deal? Certaily looked lovely and sounded sweet too.
Cheers

Hmm - the LWB California was replaced in 1960 by the SWB.
The A suffix implies it was first registered in 1964 (but you never know if it was imported (its LHD) then as the rules were different then I think and may have been registered later).
I'm not sure any Cali's were made that late.
Even if it was a replica, it would most likely be a rebodied 250 series (perhaps GTE or PF Coupe) which were built until 1964 so the reg would still come up Ferrari.
In conclusion, I don't know, but it sure looks pretty!!

Hi
See Lot 429 at Coys recent auction. The car is a very good recreation based on a 250GTE.
Good spot though and still a very vauable car.

Stunning car. And what a site, in the cold rain of London.
Also might be Joe Macari, I saw this a couple of days ago in Southfields....
