Virgin media customer retention.
Discussion
Anyone had any experience of this recently?
Am currently paying £30 a month for all 3 services. Deal ran out middle of November and the price shot up. Phoned to cancel, they offered me the same deal I have now for £31 but had to go paperless billing. Asked about the VAT drop and it's effect on the cost and got a non comittal answer. Told them to cancel anyway.
Now I'm not overly fussed if after the 30 days everything is disconnected, but know that many people have been phoned up a few days later and offered bloody good deals to stay. So far have heard nothing and was wondering if those days are now gone. Interested in your experiences.

I used to have cable broadband from NTHell (Now Virgin)
I cancelled, they didn't respond, I cancelled again, they didn't respond again, so I told my bank to refuse the direct debit.
Four months later, they sent me a threatening letter via their bailiffs.
I just sent a copy of my original cancellation letter to the bailliff and never heard another thing.
Out of interest, I kept testing my cable modem (I had broadband via BT line by this time) and it took them another nine months to switch me off!

Hi, had a very similar experience!
Service bills went through the roof as of this months bill, called them to complain was told that the deal I was on had ended. Lovely customer care..
When I told tem I wanted to cancel my service asap the girl transfered me to another department who told me that I could upgrade my broadband from 2m to 10m,keep my tv xl and phone L package for £37 with e-billing.
The last bills service charge was £62.50..
What really hacked me off was the sales dept are far from slow to call when they have a new service to offer, not so quick when a deal ends..
I did take the deal btw (got a virgin V+ box flung in first though)

you get a free laptop if you sign up through carphone warehouse
Free?Don't they hold you to very long contracts that are higher priced than the no free gift option?

Bit crap that the good deals only apply to new customers, where as us numptys who have payed our subscriptions for years are treated like rubbish.
Oh well..

There is a P/Her Scott Williams who works in Tec support at Virgin.
He helped me out when I had a problem with broadband.
I'll try and find his P/H name
Could you give him a nudge from me too. Lost our broadband on 25th september and they've successfully done naff all in getting it fixed He helped me out when I had a problem with broadband.

We've had TalkTalk chasing us as we have the phone line through them but chose to stay with Virgin and now we're regretting it.

I rang them last month intending to cancel as my bills were 60+ per month
Their cancellations department increased my TV to the top package, removed the charge for the V+ box and did some other bits meaning that my bill is now 31 a month
slightly higher than if I'd gone with BT broadband and a freeview PVR, but worth it for the lack of hassle involved.
