Has anyone derestricted their original shape XKR? Just wondered if it can be done and if so what the top speed would be...

Yes I have.

I have had the engine re-mapped and the speed limiter taken off.

I have had 185 MPH out of the old girl, but the engine has had some other mods.

And before anyone starts jumping up and down, that was in Germany!

How do they feel at high speed? I've driven a few cars at 140mph - F355 totally stable, TVR Chimaera again totally fine - Volvo V70 T5 eek

The steering for me feels a bit light so I have had the rack modified to give more weight to it.

Also I do have an Arden body kit fitted that has a front Air Dam, that stops the Lift feeling as you get with the E-Type. I didn't have a problem without it, just it helps

I may pop over and see you then you go to Tom's and we can have a chat.

at 150 it seems fine no problems at all. as Norman has pointed out the steering feels little light at <80mph but not overly so but over 100 the steering weights up. i have the R pack on mine so maybe that makes a small difference?

I posted a similar thread on here a while back about the V8 S type V max.
I think a guy from Paramount put a reply up that they'd had a "lightly worked on" de-restricted car up to 190 on rolling road. I think that was an XK8.

Guess there is no wind resistance on a rolling road

True.

Doing a max speed on the rolling road, may as well just use pencil and paper.

Say 31mph/1000revs in top
Max engine revs 6,200

192MPH just like that

Only jaguar technical would know the approx top speed of the 4.0 and 4.2 S/C engines. but going by similar cars like Maserati 3200GT Auto with its poor auto box does a 168 so a top speed of 170+ is possible imho. i have read somewhere on the internet that the car 4.0 has been clocked access of 280kph. then again the internet is full of not very accurate information smile

When do they run out of revs?
Without changing the diff ratio that will limit the vmax no matter how big the super charger is.

As my last reply, the engine is limited to 6,200 revs

I have and know of others that have de-limited the road speed,
not heard of anyone de-limiting the engine though
