Hello

Is it possible to disable the front passenger airbag on the XK8/R? i can't see anything in the manual about disabling the airbag, i was wondering if the dealer is able to do disconnect it? wife says its a pain taking the baby seat in and out on a regular basis.

cheers

I thought this model had occupancy sensning passenger airbags?? if you remove the fuse as suggested you will bring up a faul code, which will stop it working completely, and you will have t get the fault cleared each time. Q: Does the passenger airbag light come on with the baby seat in position ? Think it's near the airbag panel. If its on, the air bag is off if that makes sense. Let us know

The early cars did not have that.

So when the baby seat is in position, the light is on, everything will be ok, might be worth checking your car had had the service action done, the early 2001 models needed a rework on the occupancy modules. I guessed you had this model as i looked in your profile to find it was a 2001.

Melhook,
i didn't get a chance to try this yesterday (to cold!) but my local dealer has said the same thing.. he did say he recommend or not it BUT he has seen it where customers with 2001> have put the baby seat in the front. the drivers manual (as we know) states you shouldn't fit a baby seat in the front.

what service action ? what does it cover? Could you give me more info? i will get this checked out if it hasn't been done.

thanks for the info!

Hi, sorry cant remember the Service action number, but if your local dealer is helpful, give them a call and ask if there are any outstanding ones,
i am not in a dealer as otherwise i would look it up for you. What does the handbook say about babyseats etc? I got a bit confused, and maybe if its for long term use, the fuse out would be a better idea.....

Melhook

went ot the dealers to get a service action list regarding my car. nothing outstanding, and my car doesn't fall in the dates for the service action. service principle was aware of the service action from many years ago. so good news!

will test out the baby seat and report back for future reference

Cheers

I seem to remember that Jaguar did longer seat belts for our larger friends from over the pond !!! Not 100% sure which models these were available for, but you might well be in luck as you need a LH seat belt, USA LHD drive etc....not sure if this is of any help..?
