annoying column knock

just wandering if this is on all power streeing griffs.Car static,engine running,turn wheel back and to quickly and knocking felt and heard.Done spanner check,track rod ends and gaiters fitted couple of years ago,flys through MOTs,no play in U/Js.Could it be the two plastic bushes behind each gaiter which slide freely? Anyone else had this problem? Cheers Dave.

Yes. I have the same problem and it seems to have no observable cause.
(Although it's currently secondary to my other problems...)

Dave I had this problem and we spent ages trying to fix it (but happened on full lock). Turned out the prats who put new tyres on the front used clip on weights instead of stick on within rim to balance. This was knocking against the wishbone.

Have a quick check for clip on weights.

CuredJust thought I'd post what i found if anyone else has the problem.Thre was a tiny amount of play in the bottom U/J.Spannered up the 13mm nuts,no more knocking. Dave.
