Track day in a Ford KA
Discussion
Just got home from Castle Combe after a BookaTrack day. My normal car was delayed with a rollcage fitting and so we were left with the choice of stay at home or take our workshop courtesy car - a Ford KA!
We thought it would be fun but didn't realise quite how much fun can be had with a bog standard KA worth around £500. I would have to recommend to anyone looking for a cheap way of doing track days to look at one. Totally predictable on the limit and super safe since you are going that little bit slower overall, still managed 90mph flat out in 4th down the straight though! The handling through the corners was awesome considering it was not modified at all and wears the cheapest Khumo tyres you can buy!
It really made me think about what makes a track day fun and also made me wonder why I am spending so much money on the other car! The dilemma now is which car to take to the next one!

I did see you at Combe yesterday and it was clear that you were having fun; ultimately that's what a track day is all about. I was there in a green Volvo S60 which isn't a track car in the slightest (fully kitted out with factory heated leather seats, sat nav, phone, integrated child seats etc. We thought it would be fun but didn't realise quite how much fun can be had with a bog standard KA worth around £500. ) but fun nevertheless. It was my second outing with BaT and it, like the first, was very well organised and run.SClarke said:

Hi guys, I was in the Black Evo 10 SST, we had a chat over a coffee at the briefing. It was great to see the Ka going round, you were certainly having fun, and that is what it's all about. We thought it would be fun but didn't realise quite how much fun can be had with a bog standard KA worth around £500.
