Gangster procedures

Judging from watching thrillers, gangsters with pistols now hold the weapon 'sideways', IE with the handgrip parallel to the ground, when threatening people. Is this for some technical reason or just a craze like baseball caps back to front and trousers round their knees?

If you aks me (should that be 'ax'?) it's quite sad to think that the most powerful role model to a host of black, asian and eastern european 'hoods' is not from the Godfather, but rather from a more low-rent movie.

I reckon it's so that when they miss because they're a crap shot and they can't counter the recoil they've still got a chance of hitting *something*. Hold the gun upright and most shots will just go skywards Quite clever really :P

Hold your arm out in front of you, first with your hand "vertical" (like a karate chop), then with it "horizontal" (like small vegetarian Germans with odd facial hair of the upper lip).

Its hard enough to accurately fire a pistol with one hand in the correct (ie upright) position, let alone canted through 90 degrees or more. A sure sign of a talentless amatuer.

Not a good idea as it is more likle to cause the spent case to jam in the receiver.

Only used by lipm wristed "ganster" who can't keep trousers up!



Mind you I might try that position on my Auto Shotgun next time out!

in our ghetto, we use this all the time. Our gang- aston owners massiv hold it to the left, whilst the vantage clan hold it to thE right. Its so we know who's who in a shoot-out. Proper owners hold it upright.

Hence they need the most "relaxed" grip instead of the most accurate.

You need two hands and a firm stance to accurately fire a Glock 9mm. The recoil is considerable. I'd imagine the recoil with a gangster pose would throw your arm back and you'd break your nose.
(I found out in a shooting gallery in Latvia, by the way, not in 'da hood' or anything)

The other gansta thing is to do is to have your car seatback at 45 degs, sit with your body against the door and with your hand on the top of the steering wheel. Obviously you must keep your window open at all times too

I had a little try of the gangsta method with a Browning 9mm,on a firing range of course rather than on 'da street'. Doesnt work well,and as mentioned above,very nearly did myself an injury with the recoil! You would struggle to hit someone 10 ft away with that method too

Too much credit there. The real reason is what Skywalker said; idiot cocks! The car seat lean began as a way to use the pillar to deflect bullets in the hood. Now, as usual, it is some dumba$$ed show-thing.

Often wondered this myself.

Makes me laugh that teenagers and chavs wear their hoods up all the time, when they are hanging around with girls and even if they aren't up to no good! st, when I was a "self concious, trying to be cool and impress the girls" teenager (as all teenagers are) the last thing on earth I would have done is worn an item of clothing that had a hood, let alone worn the hood up.
My mum spent years trying to get me as a little kid to wear my hood up on the way to school when it was raining. In my 30 something mind; can anything be as pathetic and funny as to see a cocky chavy 14, 15 or 16 year old wearing a hood up?
