Toshiba LCD Question...

Recently bought a little 19 inch LCD Toshiba while I'm waiting for the money to come through from another incident from a television breaking.

Anyway, this is a fantastic little television, but recently when the screen goes black during adverts or films or what not, you can see a sort of glow spreading out from each side. It looks sort of like a back light shining through, but I don't think that is it.

Does anyone know if this is a problem with the telly? Or something that I can fix.

Also, I'm not sure whether my speakers are making the TV go funny as I've heard they can do that. There is a speaker underneath but apparently that is shielded, then I have a pair of floorstanders approximately 2.5 feet away from either side of the television.

As these are music speakers I doubt they are sheilded, so could they be causing the problem? I haven't tried the television somewhere else.

Its the backlight.

Its a 'feature' of LCD.

Speakers can't affect LCD in the manner you are hinting at because an LCD TV does not use electromagnets to steer an electron beam across the phosphor (i.e. it has NO phosphor and NO electron gun)

Ah right okay. Thats good to know.

Yeah I just noticed it on darker programmes as it affects the blackness quite a bit.


While we're at it I don't suppose anyone knows if theres a quick way to put the channels in order? When I originally scanned it the EPG has the order of the channels all messed up.

There might be a manual edit or you can rescan and it should put all the DTV channels where they should be.
