My XKR has Jaguar satnav (2000 car) which is pretty poor - sometimes says disk can't be read, but also generally frustrating after being used to more modern systems. Has anyone pulled out the standard one and fitted a Tom Tom or similar in its place? Keen not to have one stuck in the screen and wondered if this may be an option...

I have got a 2001 XK8 (purchased in Dallas, Texas) with an even worse navigation system (great for Texas, non existent for the UK or Europe). I use a Garmin Sat Nav system as a substitute. Not very sexy but perfectly adequate. A friend has a 2005 XKR & says his system is also useless. The only real alternative I have come across is sold by Paramount Performance (Google if your interested) which is embedded in the car but costs an eye popping 2000 pounds.
