I have read a bit about suspension upgrades to the Tuscan, but wanted to know what suspension the Tuscan S has and if anyone has upgraded specifically from an S to eg Nitrons? Is there a worthwhile difference?

Thanks

Yes, upgraded my Tuscan S to Nitrons a while back. 1000% better in every way. The original dampers are rubbish.

I changed my Red Rose kit for Nitrons and the difference was fantastic. Much easier to drive quickly.

Nitron's ROCK! 20 settings, keep it softer at the back (say 6 from 20 being the hardest) and the Tuscan suddenly becomes a more predictable car (up to a point!!). Exhausts do take a battering every now and then but I reckon new exhausts will be cheaper than the alternative if the handling is compromised!!

nitron are extra : the car is wonderful with them. When WOT in a curve, the back doesn't move at all. When you want to move the back you just have to put more mass on the front by lifting the throttle pedal. On a circuit it's a wonderful car with these dampers.

+ 1 here for Nitrons! I use 16 clicks from soft on the front and 14 clicks from soft on the back. Great handling. Only £50 per corner to get refurbished too.

I have bought some Nitrons with Eibach springs.

How easy are they to fit for my local (non TVR) garage? Do they need setting up or can I adjust them to suit?

I thought the Tuscan S dampers were Bilstein (sp?) as standard? Would they compare to the likes of Gaz nickel maybe? I've had Nitrons (with Eibach springs) fitted to mine and the difference, as everyone says, is astonishing. The difference when changing the clicks is palpable too so it's great to be able to fiddle with the settings and to have an adjustment between wanting soft(ish) settings for general road driving (especially on long journeys with the better half in the car....) and harder settings for more "spirited" drivingbiggrin

hi NTEL,

I see you have Nitrons for your Tuscan 2, did they improve the handling at high speed?
In my case I'm very happy with the way my Tuscan handles up to 100 mph; above that there is room for improvement and I'm looking into Nitrons.
Which Nitrons do you have? What springs/rate?

thanx!

ohlins 3 way adjustable suspension
is the future cool
Saying that the very latest Nitrons are getting good .
One other point the MK2 suspension is very good , if you set the geometry from Nitron you may find that's where the benefit or (cheat) is.
So for road use try standard and Nitrons for the track or go the full hogg and get the Ohlins :-)

Thanks Jason.
Yep, the suspension is very good, I tried it on the track the other day and it is perfect! So I was surprised that it's a bit nervous at high speeds. Maybe it just needs a proper set up.
How much for Ohlins 3 way?

Gaz Golds here, major difference in handling from standard.

Fitted them myself, piece of piss, TVR Fix then set the height wink

Although the Gaz Gold Pros look a good deal atm.

Nitrons fitted 18 months ago, very stable over 100 leptons,on an airfield of course. 173 at Bruntingthorpe, and very very stable. Set up at PPC in Melton Mowbray, and the difference was day and night. Highly recomend

Great Dave, now we are talking.
May I ask which Nitrons you have and what settings you are using for the Nitrons and the suspension?

Currently got Bilsteins on my Tuscan S MK2. Handling is better now I've had the geo setup, however the car is still too nervous on B roads. Thinking of tracking the car this year and perhaps fitting Nitrons - is this definately the way to go over Gaz Gold Pros and Ohlins?

Also whilst at it should I be changing the tyres/size. I've currently got Good Year Eagle F1s, 255s at the rear.

Looks like a good slot to get some very basic advice on suspension adjustment.
Tuscan 2S Convertible 2006.
No idea what make of dampers are on the car (!!). Really I should get under and have a look shouldn't I?

Anyway, I replaced a front anti-roll bar drop link the other weekend and noticed (I'm an observant chap you see !) that the spring had an adjuster at the bottom. Whoopee.

But, where can I get a C-spanner to adjust the springs?
And - is it just the springs that are adjustable or are the dampers also adjustable?

Regards
Phil.

Ohlin 2ways and Steve Heath's droplinks on my Tuscan2s with Toyo 888s or Pirelli Zero Corsas all around is the way to go. The guys at Aurok set her up just so and really know what they are doing. Mine is an '05 car, they didn't yet do the Bilsteins then and the difference to the original setup, particularly at high speed is night and day

Can I ask what you paid for the Ohlins? Which type did you get?
