king central heating has broke today!!!
had a call from wife to say heating wasn't coming on, got back and the boiler is on but no lighting (electric lighting).
bugger, so got stone cold house.
phoned one company who wanted £120 +vat per hour just to come round today. so guess we moving out to empty parents house.

BGH have fixed mine 3 times in the past two years - one of which was last Christmas Eve! I phoned at 6:30pm to say the pipe had split and the guy was at the house with parts by 8pm! If i take BGH any idea how quickly i can make a claim? they do a callout for £168 to my area, but if i take a contract can i claim immediatly?

Check the terms on the web-site; I think they do a new account inspection though so if it's found to be faulty that probably won't be covered... Our is a glow-warm boiler also.

If you need to call them out straight away, you'll pay a higher charge. I think mine came in around £400pa, but it's already had more than that in parts and call-out to get it fixed so well worth the money.
I know a lot of people slate them, but the BG engineers I've had here are always very good and actually turn up, unlike a number of other private individuals I've spoken to and sat here waiting for.

i tried to get on this earlier this year but they never followed up on it after i had sent all the forms back and a mix of chasing my tail and lazyness means that it's never got sorted, still i'm not paying anything out so just where i started really!

Our Rayburn packed up last week, so we had no heating, hot water or cooking facilities. Fortunately, I have a Lloyds premier account, which provides insurance for domestic emergencis. A chap came out and fixed loads of bits in the cooker & central heating.
It is the first time in goodness knows how many years that I was pleased I chose to take this bank account, as it saved me an absolute fortunate in repair bills.

Really, my experience of BGH has been fantastic? Always turned up on time and usually have the spares with them. On the odd occasion they've not had spares they go and buy them immediately and come straight back.
Christmas eve last year I had a pipe blow out on my pressured system at around 6pm'ish. By 8:30pm the BHG engineer was at the house and had jury rigged the system to keep running (didn't have correct part and nowhere was open on Xmas Eve) - even though he was there until gone 10pm!
Day after boxing day - 8am, 2 engineers turned up with the parts and fixed the system completely.
They have also fixed my washing machine 4 times (practically new internals now), heating 4 times (2 of which were major failures), water system twice, dishwasher 2-3 times (again, all new internals), and come out for 2 split pipes within 2 hours! OK this was over the term of 5-6 years - but how much would all of that cost from independants? They also cover all of the electrics...
I have used several independants before signing up to BGH and they were all cr@p - NEVER turned up when promised and never had parts with them.
Oh, and I had a collapsed sewer on the edge of my property a couple of years ago that was also dug up, replaced and cleaned up by BGH as part of the contract! Would have cost over £3,000 if I wasn't covered... They even re-landscaped afterwards!
Not bad for £50'ish a month!

Got mine and then claimed within about a week i think.... been with them 1 month, called out 3 times... great service if you ask me !!Our is a glow-warm boiler also.
