Brrrrrr, it was cold today

-5 when out sailing this morning. The top of Lymington river had frozen over. We threw salt water on the decks to clear the frost. It then froze. We threw more salt water on. It then froze again.

It was nice to get home again.

I suppose radio 2 would be akin to sticking pins in you, sure would wake you up.

I quite like going out for a walk when the weather is like this. Great stuff.

Was at a wedding reception last night, left at bout half midnight as the bar staff were bringing in the glasses etc from outside, the chap was chuckling at the beer frozen in a number of glasses.

Tell me about it, I stepped the back end of the Rangy out at 6.30 this morning round the lanes between me & the A34. I looked somewhat similar to an old square rigger helmsman as I was frantically spinning the wheel to catch it!!!

I went out in the vette today and just put the key on part power and poodled, the combination of damp still in the surface of the road plus the cold didn't fill me with confidence. This has got to be the coldest start to a winter for years, let's hope the reward is a good summer.

My brother ended up in a hedge last Tuesday, luckily a Land Rover stopped and towed him out before our Dad arrived (we didn't have any rope so he only had string, and a Citroen rather than a big heavy car). Some of the roads around here have never seen a gritter, which isn't helpful as you need to drive along them to get to the gritted roads. I'm sure there are some Land Rover drivers that just go around looking for cars that have come off the road and help them out.

A good time to own a heavy towing vehicle. The problem at the moment is the temperature during the day hasn't been rising by much so come the nights the roads freeze up quicker. In the last couple of days I've struggled to get the locks to work on my car in the early hours, 3-4 am. Must take a blow torch with me when I go back on the road.

very cold in nottingham too today, went out for a walk at 3.30 and was still frost on the side roads and pavement, but the fresh feeling fresh air did a great job of getting rid of the hangover intime for a sunday roast!!

I was working out in the garden and got sufficiently warm to need to remove my sweatshirt and just work in my Tshirt (plus jeans etc, obviously).






Yes I am being serious, I really did.
Yes, there was frost on the ground at the time.








and yes I did put it back on again after 10 minutes cos I got too cold again.

You're not wrong. They really enjoy using their cars for what they were designed.

I have a decent tow rope in my Legacy on the off chance I can help someone out. It's not a Landy but is quite capable in these poor conditions.
