Go to Eastbourne 15 miles away instead much nicer more peaceful cheaper town :P

Anyone know if there are any South African pubs/bars in Brighton?

And having stayed there in the last month, I would avoid it if I was staying in Brighton again.

There's a Marriot (Thistle) which whilst it may not be as posh is every bit as good!

Boutique hotel, lovely rooms, relaxed but excellent cocktail bar, superb restaurant (book ahead), fantastic staff & service. Near to the sea and short walk to the town and all delights
It would be that or the Hotel du Vin for me, the Hilton/Thistle/Marriott/Grand brigade are just overpriced uninspiring chains.

I've been in Brighton for work the last few months - it's perfectly possible to stay for £80 if they have more rooms than people that day. Although you'll tend to be put in one of the rooms they've not refurbished yet which can be a little weathered. Still nice huge beds though, and a really good breakfast.

I stayed here: http://www.rpthotel.co.uk/ for an anniversary, was pretty good and virtually on the front.
