Interest rates up or down? VAT up or down? Increased public spending? Deport the French? Let the banks go bust? Bring back British Leyland? Three day working week? Tax short people? Shoot the aged?
If I were El Presidente:
Tell people debt is bad. Tell them to stop buying stuff they dont need. Increase interest rates to make them save money. Cut back on unessential public services, advisors, committees. Pull out of Iraq and Afghanistan. Force local authorities to buy houses from those who can't pay for them and rent them back to them. Force asylum seekers to work for their money.

Sack the billion or so pointless public servants and make them get a real job. Probably all the useful ones you could create from not having to pay them to wander about in hi-viz jackets wielding clipboards at people. IE, re-doing all the crappy roads and things like keeping hospitals clean and regularly collecting the bins.
Remove Employer's NI and the people who administer it.
Pass a bill making the government a trade indemnity insurer of last resort
Reduce corporation tax
Make all benefits, other than disability, contributions based. If you've put nothing in, you get nothing out.

can we increase the motorway speed limit to 90 mph as well
and make it mandatory for people to learn how to use them properly on their driving test, and have an hour on a skid pan
