As an MP from a marginal seat with a huge immigrant and BNP presence he's sailing close to the wind and might well get the proverbial GB boot. You never know he might even cross the floor to the BNP as he's nearer their philosophy than the mainstream parties with such a bold suggestion. I reckon with those sort of statements he could champion a huge percentage of the population.
If any of you watched the tv news last night, the general reaaction to this being in tomorrows paper was twofold :
1. It's classic electioneering statement, it's enenforceable and telling a sector of the public (i.e. you lot) what they think you want to hear. This is the strongest indication yet that Gordon might go for a spring election.
2. It's unlikely to be possible in reality in the clearcut way that it is presented.
