Just a good excuse!.

I'm not pretending that there isn't a major financial problem in the world at the moment but I wonder what comapanies and individuals are using this situation as a good excuse.
I was having a chat with the a high ranking director of a large company on Friday and he openly told me that this was I quote " A good time for bad news" and they would be chopping out all the dead wood from the company as quick as possible.He went on to say that he knew of a few companies that would fold shortly because the re-percussions in the present climate would be less telling and the public are almost sympathetic.
I also see the motor industry with the begging bowl out, pitty MG Rover aren't still around perhaps this would have pulled them through.
Am I a synic.
