Dipped headlights stopped working yesterday evening; diagnosed to two blackened connections going into the control box. Managed to get them working by scraping off the melted plastic. The white plastic connector has melted and seems very brittle. Is it possible to get replacement plug connectors for these anywhere?

Thanks.

RS would be your best bet, that seems to be where most of the car comes from. But why are they black, something seems like its got hot?

Few times I've heard this, and it's happened on my Cerb too. IIRC is it the white wire?

The wires/connections that got hot were two multicoloured ones that were next to each other in the connector. My car originally had 100w headlight bulbs fitted when I got it, but I changed these to 55w 'extra bright' ones because of fears of overloading the wiring.

I'll have a look at RS Components, as I would rather keep it tidy and insulated instead of cutting in new connections.

It's another case of "They all do that sir". Happened on my Cerb with standard lights fitted, so shouldn't have been pushing it beyond its designed limits.

All I did was open up the box, drill a hole for some wires to pass through and solder on a new pair of wires to the connector inside. Then cut the offending wires at the burnt end and connect them to your new wires via a heavier duty connector than standard.
