I hate them and their god damn small print!

I had a fixed 12 month contract with them for a gym membership - it expires this month. So it's the 8th of December and I phone to cancel my direct debit and they need 30 days!!!

Why on earth do they need 30 days to cancel a DD? It's done by the click of a button? What is this all about? They must make an absolute killing from this 30 day notice bks!

I wonder if there is anyway out of paying it. It's not much money, just the principal of money for nothing.

Yeah I have cancelled it, but can this go against my credit scoring if I'm 'defaulting' on a poxy 42 quid?

You'll probably find it's part of the contract terms that you cancel within 30 days. Normal procedure and done for a commercial reason rather than to give them time to stop a DD.

Will my local gym see any of that 42 quid or is that entirely for the credit firm?

Yeah of course. However, I have many credit agreements and if I read all of their small print I'd have little time to do much else! God I hate these things. I think everyone falls into traps with them though. I don't think I'm the only one who gets hacked off with them. Just feels like robbery!

If you can't be bothered to read the small print, you are not falling into a trap- you are asking for nasty surprises.

Was this based on a month to month payment basis or a fixed term though? 3 months? That's a bd.
