can neighbours above me legally have regular church meetings
Discussion
ok situation is. I live in a converted house. We have the ground floor and the basement & our neighbours the 2 floors above.
They regularly (up to 3 times a week)have jehovahs witness meetings whereby 10-15 people come over, all ring the doorbell (invariably mine which is clearly labelled by mistake), all come in & out, calling up & down the stairs then leave at about 10.30 pm with equal noise levels and 15 x slamming the front door.
We are leasehold & the council own the freehold.
Now.. generally this actually doesnt really bother me but I had a heated "discussion" with the lady of house on the weekend over the fact that she wants to have her spin drier on banging away at midnight frequently. I had previously asked very politely 4 times that she either put it on some sort of rubber mat or dont do it at that time as it wakes us up but she took exeption to this & lost the plot.
Please understand, I dont want to escalate this into a major neighbourly war but I would like to know my rights on this in case it comes up. I guess people are entitled to have as many people as they like in their own homes, hmmm.

Put on loud porn at the time of their visits. A women I knew was complained about by her JW neighbours for her enthustiastic performances durring prayer meetings, as it tends to take their mind off the praying anmd reading thing. I was sympathetic to her at first thinking they had no right to interfere in her private life whenthey were like Piccadeily circus three nights a week, but then found out she was a prossie entertaining clients 6 nights a week (and on the 7th she rested. I had no idea men would pay for sex even with really ugly women.
Get the neighbours to ask and then then put up some polite 'please leave quietly' notices like pubs do.
Failing that keep a log and complain to the coucil. Do religious buildings require planning permission?

I would recomend early morning start ups of the 911, QP and Ducatti....obviously to warm the fluids.........but mainly to awaken the JW laundrette above. If that doesn't work I am sure this will...........(155db at 250psi)

On a serious note a well constructed letter on their door step always seems to do the trick to fools that I have living above me.

ha, I did think of some of those things & yes, offered to fix spin drier, its like talking to idiots, they refuse to believe there is anything wrong with it.
Invite them in and get them to listen to it running. If they carry on it'll be the council noise abatement game. Sadly there's little you can do about the church meetings if they keep those hours....Gassing Station | The Pie & Piston Archive | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
