Ok, I know there is a strip on the ground, but I'm wondering if the camera points further down the road and takes a reading based on how long between sensing you and you hitting the strip.. I was caught out a few weeks ago by seeing the usual backward facing camera type lines on the road and as I was checking my speed I realised it was a truvelo pointing at me. Subsequent trips confirmed the usual painted lines had recently been repaintedm yet the cameras face the other way.. Failed to see the logic myself..

There are three wires embedded in the road and these calculate your speed. The white line is a reference point for the photo, I believe

Lines are sometimes painted front and rear of device so it can swing round and work both ways
