Which coffee machine for a decent latte?

What's your recommendations for a sensibly priced decent coffee machine folks? I'd like to be able to make Costa/Starbucks style tall latte's - are these Dolce Gusto things any good?

Not much of a home brewed coffee drinker but... we got a Bosch Tassimo "fire n forget" coffee maker. You pop in a T disc, press a button. Buzz, buzz, burble, burble...then bing ! tasty gourmet coffee all done in about 30 seconds. Loads of blends and varieties available including mochas, lattes, hot choc, decaf, capuccino, starbucks etc.

Pot/whizzer I reckon is a lot less effort overall than a machine.

About 10% of the price too.

In a totally bloke-appreciating-machinery way, I loved the Gaggia coffee machine I bought the (now ex) wife years ago. Totally over the top for making a morning coffee but it was damn good stuff.

Lattes are mainly milk and traditionally the milk wasn't frothed or buggered about with. If you are wanting it highstreet style you just need something to froth your hot milk. Go on Amazon and type in milk frother. You can even get one cow patterned...

There is only one coffee machine in my eyes. The La Pavoni Europiccola which was the original espresso machine and the design has changed little since the dawn of time. Perhaps not the easiest machine to use (but when you get used to it makes better coffee than any of your press the button and fk off machines) but is the ultimate in coffee machine engineering. Functional and beautiful and just what any pistonhead might want in their kitchen. Not only a coffee machine but an engineering masterpiece!

Listen, you bunch of self righteous gimps. I'm not looking for opinions on whether lattes are gay or not, I just want a frigging machine to make the buggers!

An espresso machine in tandem with heating hot milk on the stove, then frothing it up seems like a ballache to me given I'm bleary eyed in the mornings. I want ease of creation so I can just push a button then stumble out the door for the daily commute.

I'm also hoping for some 'sensible' answers to the OP's question. Thinking of getting one for the OH, but so many around.

Not convinced by the Tassimo/Dolce Gusto type machines though, they look like cheap toys.
