I hated eating sprouts up until last Christmas when I came across this recipe

Boil sprouts as usual
Fry lardons of Bacon
Toast some sesame seeds
combine and serve.

Delicious

Whats your recipe?

I find the secret with sprouts is:

  • Don't 'cross' them
  • Don't use Bicarbonate of Soda; 'the Djermans' are no longer coming for you (or your sprouts)
  • Don't 'put them on' a week in advance!

I like mine plain steamed, but it is VITAL to not overdo 'em else they go bitter. Six minutes or so...

Then tossed in a little butter, possibly a garlic butter if nothing else is going garlicky.

I tend to put bacon in with Savoy Cabbage. Mmmmm.

Delicious? Or just a bit more bearable?

I love them, but simply boiled, 7-8 mins I suppose, season, bit of butter, lovely.

You can also shred them, bit of soy, bit of chilli, squeeze of lime. Works better than you think. I suppose you could always do a flavoured butter instead of the chinesey way, anchovies/cumin/chilli/black pepper might be a go-er. I'll have to give it a try.

Put a cross in the base of them and boil rapidly in highly salted water for 20 mins.

Sprouts like my gran used to make, you'll still taste them days later.

Steam mine for about 8-10 minutes but do cross them. Always do a few portions too many and them use them with left over mashed potato and bacon bits as a bubble and squeak yum
