I’ve ordered some stuff through them for Xmas – first time I have. However, it looks like it’s going to be my last!!!
First off they have taken 1 amount, and then they have earmarked another payment for the exact same amount with my bank. So I’m being charged double. I have spoken to my bank who say they can’t do anything and I’ve spoken to Amazon who say that they’ve only put through 1 payment. So now I have to wait up to 4 days for the money to go back to my account – that’s assuming they don’t take it entirely!
Secondly, I ordered another item with them on Saturday and this morning I get an e-mail to say that the order is cancelled (no reason given) and says no charge has been made. However, according to my bank, this payment has also been earmarked and so is not in my available funds! It’s really bloody annoying coming up to Xmas because not only am I tight for cash buying people gifts anyway, there’s still things I need to get hold of and I don’t have the money available to get them at the moment.

king tossers.Sounds weird. Are you sure you went on the real Amazon and not Anazom.ru or it's Nigerian equivalent?
Use them a lot over the years and think they are excellent. They could do with wrapping up some of their books a bit better though. Not worried about a ding on a paperback but annoying when it's an expensive book!

Some strange problems you're having, I always though they didn't take any money until the items had been dispatched, perhaps thats what the "earmarking" was, just making sure there were enough funds in the account to pay for the delivery?? I never had a problem with them, items always being delivered quickly etc...

Agreed, although over heard someone on the train saying they were on Watchdog last night...we use Amazon uk all the time for our books,PC/Wii/PS3 games, DVD's and CD's. (italy still doesn't have Mama Mia, Dark Knight, and Rec only had italian subtitles - and the less said about their mid 80's timewarp music, the better!) In fact, we ordered a load of presents for the kids (and me!) on Wednesday, using normal post, and they've just turned up.

Must admit, if I buy something and it comes via a 3rd party seller, I check them out anyway.
Never had an issue with Amazon myself and have used them for years. Was going to go for Amazon Prime, but now they've dropped the delivery charge threshold for free delivery, doubt I'll bother.

I've placed probably hundreds of orders through Amazon for work and home over the years, and never had a problem. I'll be doing most of my Christmas shopping though them again this year.
The Watchdog story last night was a complete non event. As far as I could see it was based around the jumped-up prick Nicky Campbell trying to say that it was Amazon's fault that people had gone outside the Amazon payment system to save a few quid and then got screwed. No st Sherlock!

They put a lot of time, effort and money into their brand - why are they stupid enough to think that extending it to others for payment is a free option.
Used it loads of times, always 100% good. A1 returns service too if you change your mind!.
Good prices too, the other day I just missed out on a Ebay auction for a 6 month old GPS running watch. Which was lucky, as I found the same thing on Amazon, brand new, £10 cheaper!.
