Rockingham Stages Rally 13th / 14th Dec

Hi - I'm new on here, I've ventured out of the BritishRally forum (which is a great place by the way). Anyway, I was just wondering if any of you were competing in / marshalling on / spectating at / interested in the Rockingham Stages rally this weekend?

I will be competing in a Mk 2 Escort - my first shot at driving after 20 years of navigating. Car 46. If you are there come and say hello - and you might get a Tunnock's Caramel Wafer!

Hi Duncan,

I was looking at your website the other day (via the rally forum you mentioned); nice looking mk2 you've got there. Should go well with the V/X lump under the bonnet too.

I'll be there all weekend, snapping away from various points around the course (with the power of the media pass, of course ) so hopefully I'll get some decent shots for you. Remember to get that tail out round the tight hairpins! And if we get there early enough on Saturday (I'll be there with my brother and a mate) we'll come and claim our wafer bars!

Should be a cracking event; been to the last three and it's always good fun with over 100 entries and two stages run in darkness on Saturday evening. Plus from up in the main grandstand you can see the whole course.

Well, another excellent event and another win for Steve Simpson's Hyundai Accent WRC. Saturday was horrible weather-wise, rain, rain and more rain - which was brilliant for those of us watching and photographing as it meant many more sliding (and spinning) rally cars! Sunday was rain free but cold so the track stayed quite damp and slippery all day.

Would I be OK to use them on my own teambrowns website?

In fact our rally didn't last much longer, i think that was the second of our three spins. After that the engine stopped playing ball - we think its a bent valve but we wont know until we take the head off after New year. So we did one stage, 9 mins and 42 secs of action, 9 hrs and 42 mins in the pub afterwards!

It was a great event, I'd really like to come back and do it again next year, but its an awful long way for the boys from Aberdeen.

used to love reading that and oor wullie albums as a kid, my Grand parents always bought it for my dad at christmas

Oh dear, sorry to hear that, especially after coming from so far away. Still, I'm sure the pub wasn't a bad place to be on Saturday afternoon as it was absolutely p*ssing down outside!
