I was wondering what people thought was likely to be the first aspect to show green shoots of recovery and what we should take of evidence of that?

For example, will it be shares reaching 5000 again, or two/three months with no fall in property prices and what will come first?

I am rather hoping the share prices recover first, enough for me to recoup my loses and get another rung up the property lader, before house prices set off uphill again. If that is the case, any estimates of the time lag between one and the other?

Well Im in the property industry and 2 of our town offices have just suddenly become mentally busy since last thursday. Lots and lots of proceedable buyers, mostly FTB or nothing to sell.

Until they only have 18 months to go. Agreed.

Anyone know why the FTSE has bounced up quite a bit this week?

Maybe Obama's bailout plan. Alternatively, random noise.

Stock markets have shrugged off some really dreadful economic news since the middle of last week. It's a short term sentiment change, that same news two months ago would have created a 6-7% sell off.

I think it's a bear market rally aided by 'bad news' fatigue.

Whatever the reason, don't trust it.
